Our firm is run by Jonathan E. Rattner who performs all legal work for the
firm. You will never have anything less than a senior, experienced
attorney working on your project. Mr. Rattner has received a Peer Review

Having been a partner at a leading Silicon Valley law firm, general counsel of
a prominent local homebuilder, COO of a Menlo Park venture capital firm, and a
sole practitioner, Mr. Rattner possesses a rare combination of expertise,
insight and value, resulting in a deep appreciation for how clients want legal
services delivered: quickly, cost-effectively and with a focus on results.
Background: Mr. Rattner earned his bachelor’s degree, summa cum
laude, in 1978 from Vanderbilt University where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He
received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1981, where, as a
Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, he served as Associate Editor on the Human Rights Law Review.
Following his graduation from Columbia, Mr. Rattner served as a law clerk to
the Honorable William P. Gray in the United States District Court, Central
District, in Los Angeles. Following his clerkship, in 1982 Mr. Rattner joined
the law firm of Ware Fletcher & Freidenrich in Palo Alto. In 1994 the firm
merged with Gray Cary Ames & Frye in San Diego.
In 1997, Mr.
Rattner left Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich to join SummerHill Homes, a Palo
Alto-based homebuilder, as Vice President and General Counsel. Subsequent to
that Mr. Rattner joined Atrium Capital Corporation, a Menlo Park venture
capital firm focused on partnering with and managing venture funds for major
corporations, as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. In 2003, Mr.
Rattner returned to the practice of real estate law part-time while still with
Atrium Capital, and now devotes all his time to that practice.
